About Mr. Heaton

Hi, I’m Eric Heaton — a math and science educator and professional statistician with over 15 years of experience helping students from middle school through graduate school succeed in math and science. I created Mr. Heaton’s Math Lab to make math clearer, less frustrating, and more empowering for both students and parents.

I previously taught math, physics and geology before returning to graduate school to better support my family. I now work as a statistician for the State of California, but teaching has always been my passion. As I see my own children navigating the challenges of learning, I feel even more motivated to help students and families overcome struggles with math. My experience ranges from high school to college and graduate-level teaching. I think it is key to break down complex topics into step-by-step explanations that students can truly understand.
